Solana

Solana is a price chart of SOL, PUMP, MET or SKR, the tokens of the Control Strip's ticker, drawn from Coinbase's candles the way a trading chart draws them. Each big move of the token stands on its candle as a dot, red down and green up, with its change beside it.

  • Open it from its desktop icon, from Open Solana… in the Solana ticker's menu, or by a click on the words of a big-move notice. Opened on a move, the app brings that move into view, rings it, and writes its words in a box.
  • Pick a token with the four buttons at the top.
  • Bookmark a chart: open the app at its own address, /apps/solana/ on the desktop's host, and the address ends in the token and the timeframe, such as #coin=PUMP&tf=15m. It follows each button you press, so a bookmark of the page opens on that token and timeframe.
  • The head gives the price now, its change over 24 hours, and the day's high and low with their times, from the daemon's own minute samples.
  • The chart's row, at its top left: 1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h and 1d set what a candle covers, Line and Candles set how the chart is drawn, Vol and RSI show or hide the two panes under the price, BB the Bollinger Bands over it, and Now brings the newest candle back after you dragged into the past.
  • Under the price, as a trading chart stacks them: a pane of volume bars, each in its candle's colour, the busiest candle in view setting the scale; and a pane of RSI over 14 candles, Wilder's way, with its 30 and 70 lines. The legend of each reads the candle under the pointer.
  • Over the price, Bollinger Bands as TradingView draws them: the basis a mean of the last 20 closes, the bands two standard deviations out, in blue, with their three figures on a second legend line.
  • Drag the chart to the right to see older candles: the app fetches further pages as you go, back to the pair's first day on Coinbase. Turn the mouse wheel over it to make the candles wider or narrower.
  • Rest the pointer on the chart to read a candle: the legend at the top left gives its open, high, low and close, and the cross marks its time under the plot and the price on the axis. Click a dot, or a row in the list under the chart, to ring a move; click it again to let it go.

The candles are Coinbase Exchange's, fetched by the daemon and shared by every desktop open on the node: a page of 300 at a time (150 for 4h, which the daemon folds from the hour's candles on four-hour UTC boundaries). A minute with no trade has no candle on Coinbase; the chart fills such a slot with a flat candle at the last close, as TradingView does, so a quiet pair reads as a line. A big move is one that passed the ticker's thresholds (Notifications: big price moves, under The desktop); a move the day's cap held back shows too, marked "held back".

For a script or an agent, GET /v1/prices/candles?token=SOL&tf=1h is a page of candles, each [time, open, high, low, close, volume], oldest first, up to the one holding now; end=<unix seconds> asks for the page up to that time. GET /v1/prices/history?token=SOL is the head's data: the day's samples (t in seconds, p in dollars), the token's moves of the last two days, and its rule. A link opens the app on a move: #show=app:solana?coin=SOL&at=<ms> on the desktop's address, at the move's time in milliseconds. The push a big move sends carries that link, so a tap on it lands on the move.
